Swampoodle
By Tom Swift
This site-specific production was created for the old Uline Arena in Washington DC – the venue for The Beatles’ first North American concert as well as a host of other major sporting, entertainment and political events. The play also mined the history of the Irish in Washington through the memories of Swampoodle – the notorious Irish ghetto which was bulldozed to make way for Union Station.
Let yourself go on a thrill-ride to Swampoodle, where the razzle-dazzle of a showbiz Mecca collides with the raw spirit of DC’s notorious Irish shantytown
