Across the Lough

By Tom Swift

Across the Lough is an intimate theatrical experience in which a boatman ferries an audience of just three people across Lough Lannagh, Co. Mayo in a wooden rowing boat.

During the performance the boatman offers stories, songs and revelations about the challenges and opportunities of life – from youth, to old age, to our final encounter with “the other side”.

Across the Lough was written by Tom Swift, directed by Irish Times Theatre Award-winning director Louise Lowe (Laundry, World’s End Lane) and performed by one of Ireland’s most engaging and talented actors Steve Blount.

The play was part of Mayo County Council’s Landmark public art event at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar in April 2012.
