So I’ve been cajoled and coerced into blogging. It seemed like such a great idea a few weeks ago when we weren’t in the thick of production.
I’m going to try and provide an insight into the wonderful world behind the scenes. Right now Rory our ASM/Assistant Production Coordinator is rifling through our first aid box, wondering how many plasters are enough plasters. Irene our production coordinator is on the phone to one of our designer, Ciaran the set designer I think it is from my blatant listening in. The conversation is going well which will result in her coming into me and telling me about fantastic, sweeping beautiful new ideas. My reply will be “how much”.
Yup thats right I’m the miserly money person. I rail at writers, directors, designers to give me a two hander show with the actors lit by a single beam of light, dressed in street clothes. Instead what I get handed is fantastical costumes, a group of actors playing multiple roles, lighting and set design would make the olympic committee happy. Don’t tell them but secretly I’m happy. This is what we do, and if I do say so myself we do it well.
Oh got to go Irene just came running in, her long quest to find a sound op is over. I bet she wants more money!
