Big House Festival

Big House Festival

BIG HOUSE was a three day site-specific arts festival that took place over the August bank holiday weekend in 2013. It was Cultural Carnival of arts, music, film and entertainment that filled the magical surroundings of Castletown House and Parklands with over 50 events each day. The event attracted an audience of over 6,000 over the weekend.

Billed as a 'Cultural Carniva'l of arts, music, film and entertainment in the magical surroundings of Castletown House and Parklands, Celbridge. Big House, had a new experience around every corner, whether you were looking for top-drawer culture and entertainment, fab food and drink, or a day-trip with a difference in extraordinary surroundings.

Tea-time theatrics, dancing in the colonnades, rock ‘n roll ballroom or trad with a twist, picnic on the lawn as an opera plays out before you, pause by the silver screen, or bathing in the sounds of a classical quartet by the lake. Loosing yourself in a forest full of mechanical birds, or speaking your mind at the Big House Parliament. Visitors came along at lunchtime and stayed until last light at what was Ireland’s first site-specific arts festival.
